Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Live Animal Feeding: Lobster at Downtown Raleigh

Watch staff feed a live Maine lobster during this brief, hands-on experience at the Arthropod Zoo. You'll get to see these fascinating crustaceans up close and learn directly from the Living Collections team about what makes lobsters such remarkable creatures. The program highlights their powerful claws, feisty nature, and tough exoskeletons—which are strengthened by minerals like lime that these animals naturally incorporate into their shells. This is a walk-up program, so no advance registration is needed. It's free to attend and works well for families with children of all ages, as well as teens and adults who want a quick but engaging animal encounter. The 15-minute session takes place on the fourth floor of the Nature Exploration Center, in the Arthropod Zoo area.
