Public Tour

Bring your family to explore the North Carolina Museum of Art's West Building on a guided 50-minute tour of the People's Collection. These tours work perfectly for first-time visitors, as a nice outing after grabbing lunch at the café, or whenever you'd like to discover the thousands of years of art and culture on display. Your docent—a knowledgeable museum guide—will lead you through the galleries, and the specific focus varies depending on availability. Some tours highlight particular artists, while others explore the basic elements and principles of art itself. This tour is completely free and welcomes visitors of all ages. Just show up at the public tour sign in the West Building to meet your docent and get started. Since tours depend on docent availability, what you experience may vary from visit to visit, making each tour unique. It's a wonderful, budget-friendly way to introduce kids to art or deepen your family's appreciation for museum collections.
