Public Tour
Guided tour of art collections at NC Museum of Art's West Building.
Your family is invited to explore the North Carolina Museum of Art's West Building on a guided tour led by one of the museum's knowledgeable docents. This 50-minute experience works wonderfully whether you're visiting for the first time, stopping by after grabbing lunch at the café, or you'd simply like an expert's perspective on the collection. The museum spans over 5,000 years of art and culture, so having a guide can really help you understand what you're seeing.
Each tour is unique—docents may wander through several galleries, zoom in on particular artists, or discuss the fundamentals of art and design. All ages are welcome to participate, making this a great activity for families with children of varying interests. There's no admission cost to join. Simply meet your docent at the public tour sign in the West Building when you arrive. Keep in mind that tours depend on docent availability, so what you experience may vary from visit to visit.
