Public Tour

Bring your family for a guided 50-minute exploration of the People's Collection at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Your docent will lead you through the galleries, sharing insights about the museum's incredible span of art and culture—spanning more than 5,000 years. Depending on the tour, your guide might focus on specific artists, walk you through multiple galleries, or help you discover the fundamentals of art itself. Since tours vary based on docent availability, each visit offers something a little different. This is a wonderful option for first-time visitors, a nice way to spend time after grabbing lunch at the café, or simply when you're curious to learn more about what's on display. Kids of all ages are welcome to join! Best of all, it's completely free. Just look for your docent at the public tour sign in the West Building when you arrive—no advance registration needed.
