Public Tour at West Building

Your family can join a guided tour of the North Carolina Museum of Art's impressive collection, featuring over 5,000 years of art and culture. The 50-minute tour takes place in the West Building and is led by a knowledgeable docent. Depending on the day, your guide might explore multiple galleries, focus on particular artists, or help you understand the fundamentals of what makes art meaningful. This is an ideal outing for first-time visitors, a nice activity after grabbing lunch at the museum café, or anytime your family wants to dive deeper into the collections. General admission is free, and people of all ages are welcome to participate. Just meet your docent at the public tour sign in the West Building when you arrive. Keep in mind that tour topics and gallery focus can vary based on which docent is available that day, so each visit offers something a little different. It's a relaxed, educational way to experience the museum together as a family.
